As more Linux developers make the transition from ARM v7 to ARM v8, the latest 64-bit reference
architecture released by ARM, there is a need to understand the key differences between both

This presentation will compare and contrast ARM v7 and ARM v8 and it will cover features such as
register files, instruction sets, exception model, MMU architecture, virtualization architecture and
guest options, among others. Some software examples from Linux Kernel will be illustrated.

In addition, we will provide a live demonstration on how to setup an ARM v8 emulation environment,
with Linux host and Guest kernel, which is important for hands on experience.

Mario Smarduch is a Senior Virtualization Architect at Samsung's Open Source Group. Currently, he's working on ARM-KVM features and optimizations for Samsung products.
